You can now send a text gift to The Hunger Project through JustTextGiving: a new service provided by JustGiving and Vodafone.
Although operated by Vodafone, customers of all UK mobile networks can use the system to give by text and your entire gift including the additional 25% gift aid all comes to The Hunger Project.
We launched our first text campaign to celebrate Ethiopia’s National Day on May 28, Zero Zero Hunger. Simply text the code HUNG00 followed by the amount you want to donate (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10) to 70070 and we will receive your donation to our JustGiving account. What’s more, if you are a UK tax payer, we will also be able to claim Gift Aid.
The best bit of all is that this service is completely free to both you and us – donor text messages are free in the UK and we don’t incur any running costs and no commission is taken from the donations we receive. So every penny you donate goes to The Hunger Project plus an extra 25% if Gift Aid can be claimed.
How to give by text:
1. Text code HUNG00 followed by the amount you would like to donate (either £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070
For example, if you want to donate:
£1, text HUNG00 £1
£2, text HUNG00 £2
£3, text HUNG00 £3
£4, text HUNG00 £4
£5, text HUNG00 £5
£10, text HUNG00 £10
2. You will then receive a text message receipt and the chance to add Gift Aid (by filling in a web form or by text message).
3. If you haven’t added Gift Aid straight away, you’ll be sent a reminder text 24 hours later.
4. We receive the gift and the Gift Aid (if applicable)
JustTextGiving text messages are free on all UK networks.
